A porter on Kilimanjaro once passed us on the trail wearing regular running shoes — not hiking boots, not trail runners. Just running shoes.

That moment is why Project Rudisha runs an annual gear drive. Good technical gear is expensive and hard to come by for the guides and porters who make Kilimanjaro treks possible — so most rely on gear left behind or handed down.
